Triodos Bank is currently advancing its responsible use of AI and establishing the capabilities needed to deliver AI solutions at scale. This includes aligning strategy, governance, and ways of working across business and technology. To support this development, we are seeking an AI Engineer. You will focus on the engineering and operationalization of AI, ensuring performance, reliability, security, automation and continuous improvement—while actively mentoring colleagues and supporting a culture of continuous learning. How you will make a difference 

You will help us to ‘change finance to finance change’, by developing and implementing artificial intelligence solutions to solve complex problems and enhance business operations.

As part of your role, you will:

• Create, implement, deploy, and continuously optimize (gen)AI solutions that are robust, scalable, reliable, and secure.
• Orchestrate distributed deployments across cloud platforms (e.g., Azure) and on-premises infrastructures.
• Build, automate and manage CI/CD pipelines for AI applications and models; support continuous improvement of dev/test/prod environments and rollouts.
• Collaborate with data engineers to optimize data infrastructure and pipelines; work with data scientists and business units to integrate AI solutions into existing platforms and workflows.
• Prepare datasets for system evaluation; perform thorough testing and evaluation of AI system performance.
• Monitor, track, and iterate on deployed AI systems to ensure they meet business objectives and remain reliable over time.
• Enable experimentation and rapid prototyping by setting up sandbox environments and building POCs with developers/data scientists/business units.
• Scan the landscape for emerging AI/GenAI models, tools, frameworks, and agentic AI developments; maintain active awareness of advancements in the field and recommend new approaches for business adoption.
• Ensure solutions meet privacy, security, ethical and legal requirements by engaging with compliance and legal teams and maintaining alignment with data governance policies.

• You are willing and able to mentor colleagues and help establish AI engineering as a core capability at Triodos Bank. 

Furthermore, it is expected that you will have:

• You bring a minimum of 2-3 years’ work experience in software engineering, AI engineering, or similar roles.  Through these roles you have hands on experience in engineering, agile principles, CI/CD pipelines, ModelOps or LLMOps. 
• You have experience in building out generative AI systems. You are able to design, code, and bring to production complete solutions. 
• You have foundational understanding of the way LLMs work, their application areas and weaknesses.
• AWS and Azure are of interest, Azure is preferred. You are familiar with public cloud platforms and their relevant AI services. AWS and Azure are of interest, Azure is preferred. 
• You have direct experience with generative AI models, prompt management, Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), orchestration frameworks (Langchain) and LLM fine-tuning.
• Experience with Databricks is preferred.

Your future colleagues

The Accelerate AI Team is a newly created within the Data & Analytics department to responsibly implement and scale AI across the organisation. As AI Engineer, you will work closely with data scientists, data engineers, platform engineers (Azure), AI governance, security, and the AI Adoption team. You collaborate widely—across business domains, compliance, and legal specialists.
